ASC Wins Award at IDUTEX 2024 : On Its Dedication in Advancing Indonesia's Industrial Human Resources

PT Asahimas Chemical (ASC) has been honored with an award from the Industrial Human Resource Development Agency (Badan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia Industri, BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry in the category of "Industry Contributing to Vocational Education and Training Development" at the Industrial Education and Training Expo (IDUTEX) 2024, held at the Ministry of Industry (Kementerian Perindustrian, Kemenperin) Building Jakarta, on Monday (07/10).

This award is presented to ASC for its contribution to education through the establishment of Politeknik Industri Petrokimia Banten (PIPB). ASC’s involvement in increasing the quality of education at PIPB reflects the company’s dedication to developing skilled young professionals in the petrochemical industry through inclusive and high-quality education.

IDUTEX is an exhibition and seminar event organized by the Ministry of Industry, focusing on education and training for students in Indonesia’s industrial sector. It features activities like coaching clinics, job fairs, virtual & augmented reality demonstrations, robotics, and AI showcases. The event also provides a platform for industries to collaborate on initiatives that develop a workforce ready to meet the challenges of the digital age.

Masrokhan, Head of BPSDMI at the Ministry of Industry, stated that IDUTEX 2024 aims to appreciate industry partners supporting these programs, with PT Asahimas Chemical recognized for its contributions to industrial human resource empowerment through PIPB.

In his keynote at IDUTEX, Indonesia's Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, emphasized the importance of vocational education and training in creating skilled and competent human resources for the industrial sector. He highlighted Indonesia's demographic bonus, with 67.5 percent of the population now in the productive age group. To maximize this potential, it is crucial to align vocational education and training with the needs of the industrial sector, from curriculum planning and educational implementation to workforce placement.

To address these challenges, ASC has launched various educational and community empowerment initiatives, including deploying educators to schools and universities—such as PIPB—through the ASC Mengajar program, providing scholarships for tutoring and higher education, and offering internship opportunities for outstanding students. This award inspires ASC to continue contributing to workforce development in Indonesia's industrial sector, while also innovating in operations and technology to remain competitive on a global scale.
