PT Asahimas Intensifies Mangrove Planting to Reduce Emissions To celebrate its 35th anniversary.
PT Asahimas Chemical (ASC) has launched to plant 35,000 mangroves aimed at reducing carbon emissions. This "mangrove blue carbon" program, in collaboration with the Kehati Foundation, took place in Mekarsari Village, Panimbang District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province.
Eddy Sutanto, President Director of PT Asahimas Chemical, encouraged everyone to continue protecting the planted mangroves. This initiative marks the third phase of ASC’s mangrove planting program, adding three hectares of land. “With this addition, the total area planted with mangroves in Pandeglang Regency now covers 8 hectares, spread across two districts and five villages,” on Monday (2/9/2024).
Furthermore, this activity is also part of disaster mitigation efforts in the coastal areas of Banten, particularly in Pandeglang Regency. The mangrove planting helps protect local communities from natural disasters such as tidal waves and coastal erosion. "Let us stay committed to nurturing the growth of the mangroves we’ve planted, and let’s turn our shared spirit into tangible actions for a better future," he added.
